Assessment introduction of each subject

Chinese

The "Basic Competency Assessments" in Chinese Language is designed according to the documents of Curriculum Development Council on Chinese Language Education. The assessments aim at assessing students' ability in reading, writing, listening and speaking. The parts on listening and reading are conducted online. The performance of students will be analyzed by the computer and the information on the "Possible problems" of the students will be available for teachers' reference. For offline writing and speaking assessments, teachers can download the tasks to assess their students' performance from the item bank. Marking Schemes and teacher notes will be available online for teachers.

The assessment items/tasks are related to the life experience of students and relevant to authentic contexts. The items are designed according to the "Basic Competency" (BC) with clear assessment objectives.

English

The "Basic Competency Assessments" in English Language is designed according to the documents of Curriculum Development Council on English Language Education. The assessments aim at assessing students' ability in reading, writing, listening and speaking in Knowledge, Experience and Interpersonal dimensions. The parts on reading and listening of an assessment task will be conducted online. The performance of students will be analyzed by the computer and the information on the "Possible problems" of the students will be available for teachers' reference. For offline writing and speaking assessments, teachers can download the tasks to assess their students' performance from the item bank. Marking Schemes and teacher notes will be available online for teachers.

The task-based assessments are designed according to the "Basic Competency" and students' integrative language use through purposeful and contextualized tasks is thus ensured.

Mathematics

The "Basic Competency Assessments" in Mathematics is designed according to the documents of Curriculum Development Council on Mathematics Education. The assessments aim at assessing the basic mathematical knowledge and skills of students. The "Student Assessment" is web-based and marked by the computer. The information on the "Possible Problems" of the students will be available for teachers' reference. Teachers may select appropriate items from the item bank to assess their students' performance.

The assessment items are designed according to the "Basic Competency" and their contexts are relevant to the students' daily life experience.
